Which servers does Audiocast work with?

Any Icecast 2 server, and Shoutcast v1/v2 servers (MP3 only for Shoutcast — pick the MP3 codec in Encoder settings for those profiles).

Can I use it without a paid streaming host?

Yes — Audiocast works with your own self-hosted Icecast/Shoutcast server or any third-party host you have credentials for. Enter its details as a server profile, or scan a setup QR code from your host if they provide one.

Does it work in the background?

Yes, on both platforms. Android shows an "Audiocast is live" notification while broadcasting, as required by the OS.
